PROJECT
Type: Modernization
Location: Clovis, CA
NPC was the Engineer of Record for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Sprinkler systems at this historic Middle school, located in Clovis, California.
The project scope included renovation of 2 buildings and the addition of a 3rd building, with construction occurring over 2 years to accommodate a phased construction approach. The initial phase focused on the relocation of services to existing buildings to accommodate the expansion of the locally renowned Mercedes Edwards Theater (MET) which serves students throughout the district in performing arts. The initial phase of the renovation was to convert a shop building initially built in 1939, into an office and learning director building. The age of the facility presented unique challenges which were able to be overcome with the engineers working on-site with the contractors and district maintenance staff who had intimate knowledge of the building. The final phase was expanding the MET theater with new support services for the students where they could prepare stage props and practice before a play.
