Start Your Engineering Career with Real-World Experience

At Net Positive Consulting Engineers, our EITs do more than sit on the sidelines. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and designers on active projects, developing the technical skills, design judgment, and project experience that build the foundation for a successful engineering career.

This position is ideal for an early-career mechanical engineer who is ready to learn, contribute, and grow. You’ll support the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems while gaining hands-on experience with Revit, AutoCAD, engineering calculations, building codes, construction documents, and multidisciplinary coordination.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and modify engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Assist with HVAC load calculations, area takeoffs, energy modeling, and basic mechanical and plumbing calculations.
• Work directly with engineers and designers to develop projects from early design through construction documents.
• Learn and apply applicable California building, mechanical, plumbing, energy, and NFPA codes and standards.
• Gain experience with engineering software such as EnergyPro, Trane TRACE, Taco, and other design tools.
• Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, structural, and other project disciplines.
• Participate in project kickoff meetings, technical training, and occasional site visits.
• Grow your responsibilities as your technical knowledge and experience develop.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Strong attention to detail and an eagerness to learn.
• Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from senior engineering staff.
• Developing ability to read and understand construction documents.
• Interest in building systems, engineering design, and the construction industry.

What to Expect

This is primarily an office-based position with a typical Monday–Friday schedule. Project site visits may occasionally require walking active construction sites, climbing ladders, or accessing rooftops while following required safety procedures. Periodic overtime may be necessary as project deadlines require.
